Let's get ready for "Beginner A01" course

Hi there! Here’s how to get ready for my online class, “Beginner A01: Making Friends”! 😊

◼️ Textbook

In this course, we’ll use Genki: Lesson 1.Genki is one of the most popular Japanese textbooks among English speakers—it’s actually used in many college Japanese programs!

If you don’t have the textbook yet, you can purchase it from the link below.

👉 Purchase Link : Make sure to get the 3rd Edition.

I also strongly recommend getting the physical book instead of the digital version—it’s easier to study from.

◼️ How to Prepare for the Course

To make the lessons even more fun and effective, I recommend reviewing the following before class:

1. Hiragana

Hiragana is the most basic Japanese writing system. It usually takes about a month to memorize, and using flashcards plus writing practice is a great way to master it.

Here are some helpful links for studying Hiragana:

2. Numbers

In Genki Lesson 1, we’ll use numbers from 1 to 99.

Once you memorize 1–10, counting up to 99 becomes super easy!

Here are some video links to practice numbers:

I’m really looking forward to seeing you in class soon! 🌸
