List of the prerequisites for Beginner A03

Here’s a quick overview of the prerequisites for Beginner A03: “Making Friends!” so you can feel confident and ready to go:

Letters

• Can read most Hiragana ([Printable flash cards – link])

• Can read about 70% of Katakana ([Printable flash cards – link])

Expressions

• Knows basic greetings

• Can count from 1 to 100,000 (Genki L1 & L2)

• Can ask and say a phone number (Genki L1)

• Can ask and tell the time (Genki L1)

• Knows how to use these demonstratives (Genki L2):

  1. これ・それ・あれ

  2. この・その・あの

  3. ここ・そこ・あそこUsing these, you’ll be able to:

  4. Ask and answer “What’s this/that?”

  5. Ask and answer about prices

  6. Ask and answer about locations

This covers roughly half of Genki Lesson 1 and Lesson2. In A03, we’ll work on the other half of the lessons with lots of speaking practice!

To make the most of our lessons and enjoy them even more, I highly recommend reviewing the vocabulary from Lessons 1 and 2 ahead of time.
