Katakana is one of the basic alphabets of the Japanese language besides Hiragana. Like Hiragana, Katakana is also a phonetic alphabet. Katakana is basically used for loan words (non-Japanese words). If you can read Katakana characters, you would easily understand menues in restaurants because many of them based on English! Understanding and reading Katakana characters is the basic building block of learning Japanese - and once mastered, you can easily jump into the higher level lessons and classes.

In this course, we focus on using a real life situation, shopping, to help teach basic Japanese grammar and vocabulary. This is the next course for beginner students after the Beginner 01 course - and best of all, after completing this set of lessons, you'll actually learn how to converse with shopkeepers in Japan and purchase products during your next visit!
Application Process
Lesson Requirements
All the couses are done online via Google Hangouts, so you will need a computer (not smart phone), a Google account that works with Google Hangouts, and a microphone and headphones so you can talk and see the shared screen during the class.
All other class materials, including PDF worksheets, study materials, and class video recordings will be provided to everyone in the course via email.
Limited Course Sizes
Each course has a limit of 8 students per course. I try Class sizes are small so that I can ensure everyone is progressing at the same pace, and get the attention they need if they are having trouble understanding or want to ask questions.
The minimum number of students for a course is 2. If a course does not reach that minimum number, the course will be canceled and payments will be refunded.

The application process for all courses is on a first come, first serve basis. To apply and reserve your seat, please fill out the form below with your contact information, and I will send you a link back via email where you can complete the payment process. Course placement is only confirmed after the payment is received.
Please note: There are no refunds offered for missed classes or absences - however, all classes are recorded and can be viewed up to two weeks after each lessons in case you need to skip a class!
