Here are the answers & key points of the quiz.


Rules for Using Particles

  1. は [wa] – Marks the topic of the sentence.(There should only be one “は [wa]” in a sentence.)

  2. の [no] – Connects two nouns so that the first noun qualifies or describes the second noun.

  3. を [o] – Marks the direct object of a verb.

  4. で [de] – Indicates the place where the action takes place.

  5. に [ni] - Marks the goal of the movement (=destination). へ [e] — Can be used in place of に [ni] to indicate the destination or direction of movement.

  6. に [ni] - Used to mark a specific point in time when an action happens.

    However, do not use に with:

    • Relative time words (today, yesterday, tomorrow, etc.)

    • Expressions with “every” (every day, every week, etc.)

    • The question word “when” (いつ).
